The SDF-O's keel was laid down in 1994 in the mighty dockyard of Vista, California.  Originally a conventional battlecruiser, a refit was ordered in early 1999.  The guns were removed, the anime viewing lounge made several times larger, and the fan construction equipment installed.  Captain Gideon Marcus, a veteran of many an Otaku-related skirmish was the first to crack a bottle of champagne upon the Suna-bedecked hull.  A hardy crew of seasoned spacers soon reported for duty and the SDF-O can be seen at Conventions on the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts and even in the Homeland.  In addition, General Quarters is called every Wednesday night to ensure the crew is ready to act in any exigency be it a rogue virtual idol, a magical girl with a pure heart, or a letter from the End of the World.

They were joined the next day by Ensign Bonnafoux and Spacer 3rd (soon to be 2nd!) Berry. Specialist Wang held the beachhead at Artists' Alley as the Admiral, the Queen, the Princess and the MASTER CHIEF PETTY OFFICER arrived on July 3. Meanwhile, an exploratory mission led by the intrepid Lieutenant (Not-Dragoon-Sergeant) Phan departed for points north, claiming large swaths of Redwood country with the aid of Gunner's Mates Benedict and Jones, Corporal Chase-Dunn, Spacer McCormac, and Specialist Garner. Next scheduled event is Octoberfest, 2010... but don't be surprised if something happens before then!
